Was about to call the wife to help me look for the mother of a joey that was wandering around the paddock with the horses. You don't often see roos on their own - except for maybe adult males, who fear nothing. Seemed to be drawn to the water trough. Was thinking the parents must've been roadkill or dogkill and was preparing for the worst.
Then I spotted a pair of ears sticking above the grassline near the fence. Little teeny tiny ears. Turns out the diminutive little roo (wallaby) in the paddock wasn't an orphaned joey at all.
That was the mum.
Everybody lived happily ever after. The end.
